Checking If It's Time for Brake Service

It can be difficult to tell if you need to have your brakes looked at. You might know when you need to change the oil, but it's harder to know when it's time to have a look at the brakes. If you notice any of the following symptoms, then you'll want to have them inspected.

Spongy or loose pedals could mean that the brakes aren't working the way that they used to. Brake pedals that go to the floor before they stop your vehicle are also a warning sign. Newer cars and trucks might have a brake warning light, but most drivers ignore it since it has a tendency to come on whenever there's condensation on the brakes. If the light comes on consistently and stays on, then there might be a real problem.

Many automakers recommend checking the brakes every 12,000 miles. If you haven't had an inspection recently and happen to be in the Oxford area, then get in touch with our service team at Belk Ford Inc.
